Founded in 1919, the Saint Thomas Choir School houses and educates the boys of the Choir of Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue. During their time at the Choir School, the boys experience a remarkable combination of music and education in this Christian community.
The Choir School seeks GAP students to serve a period of three months each during the 2013-14 academic year. The GAP student provides support for teachers and assists in tasks associated with a boarding school. The GAP student lives in a furnished studio apartment within the school building, located at 202 West 58th Street, between 7th Avenue and Broadway. All meals are provided during term time. Expenses related to work are reimbursed.
Duties assigned to the GAP student include:
1. Assisting the Athletic Director with sports/games/activities.
2. Assisting individual boys with their academic studies.
3. Assisting with the supervision of boys’ instrumental practice.
4. Assisting with the supervision of prep in the evenings.
5. Assisting the housemothers with duties in the dormitories.
6. Assisting at weekends.
7. Assisting with the supervision of boys at St. Thomas Church during rehearsals, services and concerts.
